Officiating development is about more than mechanics, rules knowledge, or getting the next assignment. The officials who continue to grow are grounded in something deeper: strong relationships, a commitment to learning, personal well-being, effective communication, purposeful leadership, and an honest understanding of where they are and where they want to go.
“Rooted in the Game” is a six-week Fall EOT Speaker Series exploring the foundations that help officials navigate the game, their crews, their careers, and themselves. Each Tuesday, we’ll dig into one element of development through candid conversations, practical examples, and perspectives from officials, coaches, administrators, and leaders across basketball.
The goal isn't simply to tell officials what to do. It is to help them better understand who they are, how they operate, and what they want to be rooted in as they continue growing in the game.
