What is the difference between the Training Camps?

The Mid Atlantic Officiating Level 1 focuses on taking high-school-level officials and training them to be competent 3-person, college-level officials. Training includes three-person officiating, as well as the techniques, preparation, and patience needed to allow you to move up the ladder in officiating.
We offer a comprehensive video review session and many campers attribute this video review as an important key to a successful season.

The Mid Atlantic Elevation Level 2 focuses on taking experienced 3-person, college-level officials to the level of being ready for the NCAA. Topics learning the three-person officiating mechanics, techniques, and rules application for the aspiring official who is building the experience necessary to learn how to become a higher-level basketball official.

Where do you host training camps?

The Mid Atlantic Elevation Officiating Camp 1 will be held on the campus of The University Of Maryland at College Park at the state of the art Xfinity Center.


The Mid Atlantic Officiating Camp 2 will be held on the campus of Towson University at the state of the art SECU Arena in Towson, Maryland.


What level do I need to be at to benefit from a Training Camp?

The games you will be officiating are part of the University Of Maryland Team Camp Shoot-out hosted by Coach Mark Turgeon.


The teams will feature regional high school teams from all over the Mid Atlantic region.

This will require an official to be ready to officiate above the rim and handle a top rated potential Division 1 athlete who is competing for an athletic scholarship at the next level.

What times are the sessions at camp?

The camp will begin on Friday from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Saturday game sessions will be from 8 am to 9 pm

Sunday session will run from 8 am to 3 pm.

What games are we officiating at the camps?

The games you will officiate are part of the University Of Maryland Team Camp Shoot-out. The teams will feature regional high school teams from all over the Mid-Atlantic region. Games will use high school rules. New and veteran officials will benefit from situations on and off the court.

What is needed to attend the camp?

Open mind, positive attitude, commitment, rule book, officiating uniform, shoes, whistle, and notepad.

What to Bring to Camp

Each official should bring an adequate supply of equipment including striped officials shirts, black long pants, black shoes, a whistle, a lanyard, rules book, and notepad.

Do I need my own meals?

No, your camp fee includes all meals for all officials. You can bring your favorite snacks if you wish.

What about Lodging?
